Introduction

The maps section of the MM2 of The Locust wiki covers every playable location inside the Locust's nest — the dark maze of corridors, rooms and hiding spots where each 1 vs All round takes place. The Nest is the main map and the first place most players will learn, but knowing where the escape routes and hiding spots are on every layout is what separates survivors from victims. Each map has its own character: some reward stealthy corner play, others reward fast movement and map knowledge. The section breaks down the layout, highlights the best hiding spots, maps the fastest escape routes and notes which areas are the most dangerous when the Locust is hunting. Because the game is in pre-alpha and the developer has teased new maps for upcoming updates, we keep this section updated as layouts change and new locations are added to the nest.

Nest Locations

A

The Nest

The main map — a dark maze of corridors and rooms

LayoutThe Nest is the core map where most rounds begin. It is a dark maze of corridors, rooms and connecting passages that you must learn to navigate quickly.
Best ForBalanced hiding. The Nest has a mix of open areas, rooms and shadowed corners, so it supports both stealth play and fast escapes.
Survival TipLearn the layout early. Knowing which corridors loop back and which are dead ends lets you escape more effectively when the Locust is close.

Escape Routes

The fastest paths to the exit

LayoutEscape routes are the paths leading to the exit of the nest. They tend to be more open and exposed, which makes them risky but fast.
Best ForThe final escape. When you are the Last Survivor, your win condition is reaching the exit, so knowing the fastest route is essential.
Survival TipBalance cover and speed. The shortest path is not always the safest — look for routes that keep you out of the Locust's line of sight.
B

Hiding Spots

Quiet corners, alcoves and vents

LayoutHiding spots are scattered across the nest — dark corners, alcoves and vent-like spaces where the Locust is unlikely to check.
Best ForStealth play. Staying hidden in a good spot keeps you alive while the Locust hunts elsewhere, but you must rotate to avoid being found.
Survival TipNever stay in one spot too long. The Locust learns the common hiding places, so rotate between two or three spots during quiet moments.
B

Dark Zones

Shadowed areas for evading the killer

LayoutDark zones are the shadowed parts of the map where visibility is poor. They make it harder for the Locust to spot you from a distance.
Best ForEvading the Locust. Moving through dark zones lets you break line of sight and lose a pursuing killer.
Survival TipUse dark zones to reposition. When the Locust is heading your way, slip through a shadowed area to break the chase and find a new hiding spot.

New Maps

Fresh layouts teased for upcoming updates

LayoutThe developer has teased new maps for upcoming updates. These will bring fresh layouts, new hiding spots and new escape routes to the nest.
Best ForKeeping the game fresh. New maps change the meta — hiding spots and escape routes shift, so map guides will need updating.
Survival TipFollow the Updates section to track when new maps drop, and explore each new layout early to learn the hiding spots and routes.

Core Mechanics

Each round of MM2 of The Locust takes place on one of the maps inside the Locust's nest. The Nest, the main map, is a dark maze of corridors and rooms that players must learn to navigate under pressure. Escape routes lead to the exit and are the key to the final escape win condition — the Last Survivor must reach the exit to win the round. Hiding spots are scattered around the map in dark corners, alcoves and vent-like spaces, giving survivors places to avoid the Locust's patrol. Dark zones provide poor visibility that helps survivors break line of sight and reposition. Map knowledge is one of the biggest skill factors in the game: survivors who know the layout can rotate between hiding spots, cut through corridors and reach escape routes quickly, while Locust players who know the map can systematically check the common hiding places and cut off escape paths. Because the game is in pre-alpha, new maps have been teased for upcoming updates and layouts may change.

Advantages

The maps in MM2 of The Locust are designed around tension and replayability. The dark, maze-like Nest creates genuine suspense — every corridor could hide the Locust, and every shadow could be a hiding spot. The variety of map features — escape routes, hiding spots and dark zones — gives survivors multiple ways to approach each round, from pure stealth to aggressive map control. Good map knowledge is rewarded strongly, which gives experienced players a real skill edge without making the game inaccessible to newcomers. The layout also supports multiple playstyles: patient players can camp in hiding spots, while aggressive players can use their map knowledge to move constantly and stay one step ahead of the killer. Each location adds its own character, keeping rounds fresh even after many games.

Challenges

The map system has some limitations, mostly tied to the game's early stage of development. There is currently a fairly small number of maps — essentially the Nest and its variations — which can make the game feel repetitive until new maps are added. Because the game is in pre-alpha, map layouts can change between updates, so community map guides need frequent revisions to stay accurate. The dark, maze-like design, while atmospheric, can also be confusing for new players who do not yet know the layout — getting lost is a common way to get caught. Finally, some hiding spots are so strong that rounds can slow down while survivors camp, which can frustrate Locust players looking for a faster-paced game.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the main map in MM2 of The Locust?+
The main map is The Nest — a dark maze of corridors and rooms where most rounds take place. It is the first map you will learn and features a mix of open areas, rooms, shadowed corners and hiding spots. The Nest is designed for balanced play, supporting both stealthy hiding and fast escapes. Knowing the layout is one of the biggest advantages you can have, so take time to explore during quiet moments in the round and memorize the main corridors and dead ends.
Where are the best hiding spots on each map?+
The best hiding spots are in dark corners, alcoves and vent-like spaces that the Locust is unlikely to check — generally away from the main corridors where most survivors run. The exact locations depend on the map, but a good rule is to look for shadowed areas near the edge of the map with a clear escape route nearby. Always have a backup spot in mind and rotate between two or three hiding places during the round, because the Locust learns the common hiding spots quickly and will check them.
How do escape routes work?+
Escape routes are the paths that lead to the exit of the nest. They are the key to the final escape win condition — when you are the Last Survivor, you must reach the exit and survive to win the round. Escape routes tend to be more open and exposed, so you need to balance speed and cover. Learn the fastest route to the exit during the round's quiet moments, and commit to your run only when the Locust is far away or facing the wrong direction.

Quick Tips

💡

Learn the layout of The Nest during the quiet moments of each round. Knowing which corridors loop back, which are dead ends and where the hiding spots sit lets you escape far more effectively when the Locust is closing in on your position. Investing a little time in map knowledge pays off every single round, since knowing where to go under pressure is often the difference between surviving and being caught.

💡

Rotate between two or three hiding spots instead of camping in one place for the whole round. The Locust checks the common hiding spots quickly, and moving during quiet moments keeps you unpredictable and makes you a much harder target to find. Investing a little time in map knowledge pays off every single round, since knowing where to go under pressure is often the difference between surviving and being caught.

💡

Use dark zones to break line of sight when you are being chased. When the Locust is right behind you, slip through a shadowed area to lose the killer, then find a new position and recover before the hunt resumes in a different part of the nest. Investing a little time in map knowledge pays off every single round, since knowing where to go under pressure is often the difference between surviving and being caught.
